very nice chris. Saw ur thread on MFBA and wondered why u were parting out a f-body.
I am also planning to set my car up to run hot street. Thinkin Th400, 9"/S60, and a 150 shot should run the index. Just waiting now to see what the finalized set of rules look like.

Like fastlanefairlane said, we have one of our smaller Ford engines that could run, oh I'd say, 1 second under the cap! BTW, thts naturally aspirated
Fords ain't fast, so no worries!!

As a 100% bonafied hillbilly (or a hack to some others) I'd build your own 60. Get a center section/housing from a Ford van or pickup (can find them factory with 2.76 [D61] through 4.10 gears). Narrow the housing to the width you want. Get a 35 spline carrier out of a D60HD, D70, or a front D60. Weld said carrier up. Get custom shafts cut from Yukon or Alloy USA for ~$130/shaft. You can do your own rear disks for cheap. I'd run calipers off an 80s Gbody/half ton pickup/P-series van and rotors off a standard cab half ton GMT400 pickup. If you plan carefully you can have a "brand new" axle for under $500.
I like cheap; cheap is fun. You don't mind it so much when you hurt it that way.
Buy made in the United States. Otherwise your job might be next. Unless you already wear black shoes and a visor with golden arches on it to work in which case your fellow american has already failed you.
Scotty... that's gonna be the best part. SO many combo's to pick from, and I have a good bit of time before the final rules are picked. SO i can go from there with it...
...i would tell you about prject cheapo...but it would give you to many ideas lol.....
Put it this way...3k total invest ment =10.20s

NICE! I'm hoping to do my the same way. I'm keeping a running tally of everything I'm spending
Wont the car be to heavy for a glide??? and a Dana 60 to run 10.20s??? Over kill and not worth the weight.
70 cutlass 442- dads car
95 stang- Stock long block 195,XXX miles
03 XC600 - bone stock (still faster then smokin ram)
03 Polaris predator- 4.250 bore (assembly required)
84- 4 eyed
No sense in buying shit twice. This won't be the limit of what the car will go toe.t.-wise. 12 bolt will get me there, but i'd rather just go right to the end and then spray the extra 10hp to make the difference up. Besides, doesn't rob as much power as a 9", so it'll equal it all out.
As for weight for the glide, probably won't weigh too much. Right on the edge. Then again, it'll be a boring ride. I've already set to pick up a TH400. So that decision has already been made anyways NOT to go with the glide
