Some girls do want an 8 second ride
I forgot to update but this happened on the way up to the dells.
Made it 55 miles and decided to shut it down instead of trying to figure out what the problem was on the side of the freeway. Started bogging down and back fired a couple times. Shut off twice on me on the freeway.
I didn't want to waste more time on the side of the road since we had to come back an hour home to get our trailblazer and then back out 2 hours to get to the show. Luckily Tony had AAA so the tow was free.

Checked it out today and I believe I figured it out and it makes sense to me. I tested out the box and the coil and both tested fine. Ohm'd out the pickup and it read open. Just have to contact MSD to figure out how to get a new one and I'll go from there.

Hopefully it's a easy fix.
nevermind on the pickup. My meter was being stupid. Used my other meter and tested fine. I narrowed it down to the coil.
Primary resistance is .4 ohms which is about normal
Secondary resistance is reading infinate.

much easier fix than the pick-up...

meh, I already had my distributor taken apart and the pickup out. Wasn't hard at all. Hardest part is taking the roll pin out.
A failing coil would make sense with my problem though.

i have a accell super coil thats good if u want to try it out first before u buy one should work with the 6al i believe just been sittin on the shelf in the box
Wait you have a 6AL in there? How did you test that? I have had a NUMBER of those go bad over the years and exhibit all sorts of crazy intermittant or non intermittant issues...

That's how I tested the box and coil. According to that test both are good. But when I ohm'd out the coil it failed on the secondary. Doesn't mean there still isn't something else wrong with the box but I figured I would replace the coil first since it's cheaper.

Yep start with the coil. Then get a new box. Advance auto will match summit's price if you want to go pick one up and have it the same day. The one on highway 100 next to bw3s usually has a 6al
