    ?

Man, what does the wheelbase measure out to on that thing? Way cool.

Much cooler than the 4x4 Yugo on Beloit!

They are like 90" wheelbase, wheelie bar time with the torque of
the powerplant I am using on this one. Will have pics of it slammed
down this coming week, hoping to be half way stable when done.

Basicaly same setup as the Omni, 2.5 instead of 2.2.
Trans will be a one of a kind 904 from Mopars test bins.

The Omni motor has never really been pressed, FWD traction
and a 2600# car get to be a PITA at track with old radials.
Learned a bit over years with forced induction and am pretty
confident I can get the sub 2000# car to move nicely.

How did you get ahold of that? What was it intended for? Why not use the 904's bolted to 2.5's from the late 80's dakotas?

There were six 904's with the 2.2/2.5 bolt pattern built by Chrysler.
They were test bed's to see if a Dakota would be marketable
with a 2.5 TBI and an auto, failed and was never marketed. There
are 2.5 Dakota's of later models but its not the Chrysler 4 banger.

Rumors of them being sold in Mexico have been around for years
but nobody has turned up any. Normaly the trans behind a 2.5
would be a 5spd manual of the AX family, often killed behind even
    weaker 2.0 GM/Isuzu S-10's. If you find a 2.5/904 powerd Dakota
out there I would love to here from you, odd combo indeed.

Ah yes...that's right. I knew the early 3.9's were backed by either the 5 speed or a 3 speed auto, the 904 variant 998, but forgot that the 2.2/2.5's were manual trans only...you are rightn, not until the stronger amc 4 banger came along could you get an auto. my bad.
