    88 Mazda 323 turbo awd

I am just wondering what y'all think of the 1988 Mazda 323 turbo AWD. I have seen only a few of this car and seems like something that would be pretty cool to own. Also, of all the awd cars I have seen, this one doesn't have the markup and cult following like the DSMs.

Probably because there were only 1,000 or so sold in the states. Can't have a cult following when there's nothing really left I guess

The car is a god of cars produced in the 80's -

There was a cult following, then a few hundred of them have left the earth, to roam the junkyards, and now they are too few to be a cult following.

The cult has just gotten smaller over the years, but there are still die hards out there:

Holly crap, I just found out that they only weight about 24-2500 lbs. I thought that 138 hp was meager, but the weight sure seems to help!

The "cult" thing was thrown in for fun by me. There is a dsm club/cult here in the C'burg. The're good people, but they also think that they are cool too.

they are VERY capable cars. I had a friend in high school that had a modded one that used to walk all over my buddy's bolt on 1990 Mitsu GSX. Fun cars

Up until the last few years there were 2 red ones roaming
the metro area. A fully caged and race seat equiped one
I had worked on a few times at a shop on Hwy 100 and
another bone stocker driven by an older gentleman on
NW area of town. Have not seen one in recent memory
    around here, cool cars.

i used to own an 88 323 gtx (awd 1.6t), and also an 88 323 gt (fwd 1.6t)
awesome high revving cars. they were built with tiny ihi-vj13 turbos in them, and with minimal mods, they can be made to be rockets. i shall be getting another gt, and a gtx if i could find the loot.
some day in the future, i will be mating the awd tranny in a fwd gt. it shouldnt be too much work. just a custom driveshaft, and gtx rearend. + a few little extras

btw, there were 14XX of these made. im not sure the exact # but 1400 and some change gtx's were made.
    two thumbs up
