Wink MFBA event @ Road America

    THANK YOU
Charlie, Dan, Carmen, Dan & Dave, Dillon, Kieth & all,

Thank You for a GREAT EVENT!!!!!!!

    I had a Blast,
and you know i will be back next time!

    PS

    keep the kink,
If ya want it safer there, just dont allow passing from 10 to 14, like ya have in the past! at least the first day?

    Groups D, C, B, No passing from T10 Carosel to T14.

I love the Kink, that is the highest speed corner on the track,
and i can tell how may car handles at speed, going through the kink!

    PLEASE KEEP THE KINK!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's quite obvious to me that the kink is the fastest turn on the track..lol. Why would you want ot get rid of it? Using the superbike porition of the track would be stupid IMO.

Wait where is this talk about the kink? Did RA finnally do that ad on to the track?

Also I'm pretty sure the s10 will be in Oct event!! Without the turbo tho, but plenty of other goodies!!!!!!

    The S-turn before the Kink
was added to Road America, over 2 years ago!!!!!!!

if they use it, they put up barriers to redirect you to the S-turn.

You did not even notice when ya drove there last october!

we did not use it, thats all.

they are thinking of eliminating the kink for next event?

Is the section the bend right before the kink? It would really suck to brake/turn right after the carousel!!!!

And no i didnt notice it, I WAS PAYING ATTENTION TO DRIVING not the scenery around the track.

Yeah, it really would suck to brake/turn right after the carousel....I mean, who wants to HIT THE WALL! I would much rather take a LEFT towards "the bend"

My dad's friend put his grandsport corvette into the wall around there on saturday, trying to get around that prowler. If anybody recalls hearing a request for a shopvac on saturday, that was for his hatch glass .

The carousel and kink were by far the slowest parts of the track for me, but I hope to have that corrected when Mike rides with me next time The only part I excelled in was the front straight where I saw 6krpm in 5th (no speedo yet) before nearly crapping my pants and letting off.

I was surprised when I read you guys say you take the Kink the fastest of any turn.. When I raced last year, I took that easier than any other (except Turn 14 which I hate) just out of respect for all the bad things I heard about the Kink. Well, that, and all the black marks going into both the left and right walls . So I only took it at like 80. I had a lot more fun going fast at WOT maybe 110mph through the Kettle Bottoms (11A) right after the Kink, or coming up under the Billy Mitchell Bridge (13A) 90-100mph. Even Turn 7 is quite a bit of fun under throttle.

Turbogarrett, I missed the Grand Sport wreck but I did overhear some discussion about the Prowler and it sounded like the powers that be were not happy it was out there racing. I agree with what I heard; its designed to "look cool going slow", not actually race on a track. Especially with a weak N/A V6 and no roll bar.

    Red face

    you see

    passing in the KINK
    or near the kink

IS WHY there could have been 2 crashes there!
IF they just do NOT allow passing, from the Carosel, T10 to T14
    that might eliminate the problem.!

    for the b,c,d groups?

the other crash in the KINK
was cause of a passing issue too!

it was only caused by Inexperienced drivers
either trying to pass, or Thinking they had to try to LET someone pass in the Kink, or near it!
meaing they slowed WAY down in the Kink, way to slow.
Thats a great idea!! Slowing in the kink is a VERY VERY bad thing!

Yeah, or a basic physics course to all the inexperienced drivers....you let off in a turn and the backend gets reallll light...thus, around you go.

IMO, it doesn't help that there are quite a few "sandbaggers" who ran in class D. It was quite unnerving on day one, trying to get the hang of the track when you have some guy with a fast car and sticky tires riding your ass through some of the tricky parts.

    i forgot your name, BUT
the guys in Class D, are not really sandbaggers,
cause they dont get to pick their class, or group.
    MFBA picks it for you.

so maybe the guys got put in D group, cause they are new,
but they turned out to be FASTer or More agressive
    than most in that group.
    it happens.

Please dont worry about someone behind you,
just keep your self safe, and when ya get to a strait,
    Move over & point!

    THE KEY IS

    have fun!!!!!!!

this is supposed to be fun!

    dont worry
    be happy

I didn't mean to sound like I did not have a great time, I and a couple other drivers just thought that when you nearly lap the field it's time to move out of the beginner class (z06 w/ hoosiers) One thing's for sure,I've got the october event marked on my calendar!

    oh i see

that was prolly on of the instructors, Black zo6 w/hoosiers.
he gets to go out when ever he wants, and is a good friend of the owner.

So, in restrospect, yes he might have taken it easier in the D group,
knowing that he might worry the people he Flys up on.

BUT, like i said, Do NOT worry about the guy behind you,

HE HAS TO STAY behind you, UNTIL you point him by.
so, when ya get to the next passing zone, point him by & hes gone!

the KEY is to Not Worry, and have fun!
