    Clutch tech question

I was just wondering if anyone knew if (which i think its no) a 98-02 clutch would fit on the 96 or not and why/why not. I know the ls1 was based around the lt1 but i dont know if the tranny's are different or what. but if anyone could enlighten me on this that would be great thanks.

your motor the LT1 is based on the old sbc so parts from it will sometimes fit older stuff, like I have a T56 tranny from a 95 TA in my 87 Camaro, everything bolts right up. The LS1 is a completely different engine design than the LT1, I dont think anythign from an LS1 motor will swap to an older sbc. As far as the clutch, when they went from the LT1 to a LS1 they also changed the style of clutch, Im not exacly sure of the terms used but they are completely different. Im sure there are plenty of people on here that could get much more technical/acurate on that info but thats basicly how it is.
