I'm looking for a drill press for my garage.
Something free standing and heavy duty would be nice, as this will only be used for metalworking.
Shoot me a PM with a picture and a price and we'll go from there.

Actually, the HF 12 speed press doesn't look that bad. The lowest end one is a pile, but this one gets pretty good reviews. For what I need it for, I'm sure it would work fine. I've been watching CL, I'll keep an eye out for another week or two and then maybe check out the HF one.

buy an older USA-made unit. Parts are still available and it will last forever

That's the plan, but unless I happen to find one, the top of the line HF one will fit my needs fine, I'm sure.

Seriously, find me a bad review. Other than people warning about HF quality, everyone loves this thing. It's got nice parts on it...MT2 spindle, plenty of power...for the few times a week I'd use it, I'm sure it would hold up fine for many years.
I buy a fair amount of shit from HF, and the only stuff that's actually been shit has been a socket set and holesaws. Everything else has been acceptable to exceptional for the price. (granted, there's some stuff I would never buy, but I don't think this falls into that category)

I'd buy this one... http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/tls/2942132247.html Unless you're drilling a shit ton of holes in soft materials (wood, aluminum, ect) a drill only needs two speeds; slow and really slow.
And my experiences with HF hand tools is they are shit. My Craftsman tools break from abuse, my HF tools break from use.
Nice find. I'll send him an email.
85% of what I do will be in steel. Probably 13% aluminum, with the occasional odd wood job.

Damn you went from considering a Harbor Freight 'piece' to that? That is like upgrading from a `99 Ford Escort to a BMW. Very nice.
