Good to see my old engine is still kicking.

I dont remember if that block was zero decked or not. Depending on the head gaskets you used, if its zero decked, and the heads were actually 74cc it would be right around 9.9 or 10.0 to 1. If its not zero decked subtract from there.

Hard to guess big numbers on it without knowing anything about the exhaust or fuel system also. Lots of trinkety stuff can make a difference.

I think that Lunati cam is an absolute slam dunk for the build. Being a flat tappet its plenty healthy at 233/241, yet probably has decent manners because of the way its designed. It looks to be the Voodoo 60104.

I'm not saying you couldnt tweak a couple more HP (not 50) out of it messing with all kinds of bolt on stuff, but the numbers dont look too far off what I'd expect of the parts. Sounds like it was designed to bolt together and run good without getting too fancy or expensive. Looks like mission accomplished to me!

Engine is getting pulled and a rebuild this winter. I'm getting blow-by and burning a crap ton of oil. I'm pushing oil out of my breathers and also popping the top of my dipstick.

I'll most likely upgrade some stuff while I'm in there lol.

Secondary linkage on the carb got stuck at wide open 3 times on Friday on the way up to the Dells. Twice was when it was in neutral and once when I was taking off from the side of the freeway. It could have been really bad if my tires would have broken loose and I spun into traffic sideways. The engine didn't like reving to the max in neutral either lol. I thought I had a pill in my 6AL box but apparently not. Either way, I had to re adjust the secondary linkage back to its original position for the weekend so I wouldn't die.

yea and i almost crapped my pants on the freeway when it went wot in neutral standing over the carb, and yea the motor huffs way to much black smoke at partial throttle and looks like a diesel rolling coal when hes actually wot under load out of both pipes. Under partial throttle the passenger side one always puffs black smoke under any kind of throttle being given. He also said the gas mileage improved tons.

Yeah, the secondary linkage is binding up. I'm going to file some of it away and it should work fine the way they set it up when they dyno'd it.

I'm just kind of pissed because I need to rebuild my motor anyway so I pretty much wasted money on the dyno tune.

The whole money thing will probably put that on hold for a while, so I'll probably end up just rebuilding the 383 for now.

LSX would be cool also with a carb intake. Really cheap motors and make good power with basic mods.

Not! Not if you want to make power. Wanna see my 408 bill? A stock displacement LS1 with a cam and heads will be a slow turd. BBC make torque. Even building a decent 454 will benefit you more than a 346 LS1.
