WBD helps a strong young man live his dream during his toughest times

This is 2 page spread in the May 2012 CAMARO PERFORMERS Magazine, Reader's rides section.

The entire section was devoted to Matt Krueger, a very young car nut who is battling with cancer. With the help of his close family and WBD, His dreams of having his '99 Bright Blue Metallic modified with a plethora of upgrades including a 228/228 Cam, Wegner CNC ported heads and long tube headers, and of course a dyno tune to make all the parts work in harmony. The Car made 441 HP at the wheels and completed his dream list of modifications to his car.

Matt is still going strong and his status can be viewed through a blog his family created to let everyone know how he's doing.
    http://www.mkruegerfamily.blogspot.com/

This was an awesome experience to be a part of, and everyone invloved, including parts vendors donated alot of their time and put ego's, buisness, profits, and time aside to help pull this off for him to simply "help out a fellow car enthusiast".

I personally took pride in working on this car because of Matt being a fellow LSX enthusiast and because being exposed to similar events with my own father and his battle with cancer.

Here are some scans of the article, hopefully large enough to be read by all, its a touching story.

Nice stuff guys! Having fought with medical issues for years, I feel for him. Sometimes drive and passion are the only things that give someone hope, this is a great story of how a car becomes soooo much more than just a machine to someone. Facing a situation like that without a *dream* makes things much much harder. Hope things continue well for him.

    Matt's Obituary

The Lord gave us Matthew Allen Krueger on April 24, 1989, and He took him home April 19, 2012. Matt was a charming, loving, and inspirational human being. He touched the lives of everyone he met through school, work, and play. Matt attended grade school at St. Paul’s in Ixonia. He was involved in 4H for 10 years, Ixonia Victory. He attended Watertown High School where he was a three sport athlete participating in soccer, basketball, and tennis. He was involved with the Peer Helpers club. Matt and Casey were named cutest couple for their graduating class in 2007. Matt did fine in school, but his true passion was working. Directly following his 18th birthday Matt took a job with Jerry Hepp Excavating Inc. He loved everything about working there. He got to do it all from mechanics to concrete, digging to driving and everything in-between. Most of all he enjoyed the camaraderie with fellow employees and future brother-in-law Ryan Hepp. Matt soaked up everything Ryan ever told him and he was proud. Often times Matt found himself getting involved in volunteer efforts for the local community including the Marine Corps League Aero Park, Watertown Elks Lodge, Post Office food drive and Chickens for several years.

Matt’s battle with cancer started in October of 2008. He was diagnosed with stage 4 mucinous adenocarcinoma. Matt was not fazed by his diagnosis simply stated he had more he wanted to do yet. Matt immediately started checking things off his list. He proposed to Casey (Hepp) Krueger the following week October 30, 2008. Since then, Matt’s cancer has led them and their families on a whirlwind adventure. The road was never easy, but it was filled with some wonderful people and experiences they will never forget. Matt went through chemotherapy, none of which seemed to slow down his cancer, or him for that matter. Matt’s had four surgeries two of which were done by a specialist in Washington DC. He has had a number of other procedures done to help comfort and maintain. Through all of these horrible things, the smile never left Matt’s face. He had a certain quality about him words cannot describe. Anyone who crossed paths with Matt was inspired by his heart and faith, they couldn’t help but get involved. Matt’s passions and loves were his wife, his family and friends, his faith, and his ’99 Z28 Camaro. The camaro brought many wonderful experiences to matt including taking it around the track at Lowes Motor Speedway in North Carolina and being featured in the Camaro Performers magazine.

Matt’s held on as long as he could. More life threatening concerns came up minutes following the doctor’s appointment where Matt and his wife Casey learned they were having a baby boy. Matt held on for eight more days. He died in his home with his mother and wife holding his hands and family and friends surrounding him. As his weak, decrepit body took its last heaping breathe, they knew he found peace.

Shame, sounded like things had been on the up-up when you first posted about this. He won't be in pain or struggle anymore at least. Look forward to seeing his car in tribute at the event.
