    kickdown switch

    I am trying to figure out how the kickdown switch works on my 1970 chevelle with a th 400? i have a new switch and new bracket!! the rod for the gas pedal just touches the switch? is this how it is supposed to work? if not what do i do? any info or pictures would be appreciated!!! Thanks Brian

    I always thought it was a contact switch mounted at the throttle linkage by the carb.

    There are two ways of doing it.. this way was in the manual i have.. i understand how it is positioned i just dont know how it is exactly supposed to work?

    Or do you need a copy of the electrical diagram?
    Originally it all connects to the sensor on the trans along with the TCS relay on the cowl wire gutter, the temp sensor on the drivers side head and the TCS solenoid on the intake manifold next to the carb.

    Thanks, it says its self adjusting? i guess i will see what happends when i power it up? Ha ha

    You could always put an ohm meter across the contacts and see how it reacts when you push down on the pedal
