I am trying to figure out how the kickdown switch works on my 1970 chevelle with a th 400? i have a new switch and new bracket!! the rod for the gas pedal just touches the switch? is this how it is supposed to work? if not what do i do? any info or pictures would be appreciated!!! Thanks Brian

out of rust and in paint
I always thought it was a contact switch mounted at the throttle linkage by the carb.

Or do you need a copy of the electrical diagram?
Originally it all connects to the sensor on the trans along with the TCS relay on the cowl wire gutter, the temp sensor on the drivers side head and the TCS solenoid on the intake manifold next to the carb.

Hell Yeah
You could always put an ohm meter across the contacts and see how it reacts when you push down on the pedal
