    taxes are coming soon :)

Now i'm seriously thinking about putting a cam in the car. I'm lost as to what i should go with for the longest time i wanted a trex cam because i loves the way it sounds but it just doesn't seem practical. been looking at texas speed and maybe thinking ms3 or ms4. I'm also starting to lean more toward trying the car out on the twisty roads more than the straight line track so i don't need anything huge. Last question i'll probably geting a cam package. Do i want single springs or dual valve springs whats the difference benefits between them?

    Texas speed torquer v2

I know that's what's going in mine along with the tsp dual spring kit.

I'm running PAC 1510 max .650 lift single springs on factory retainers. Dual springs are needed for a cam with a higher ramp rate (e.g. Torquer V3). The cam you purchase should tell you if you require a dual spring. If you go that way, you also have to change out valve seals and seats, as well as retainers... this makes the package substantially more expensive.

112 lsa. I put in standard length rods in my all stock LS2. nothing in your mod list indicates you'd need anything but that... but its always safest to check. If I were you I'd order stock length and make sure its right with the checker. I'd assume they'd exchange for the cost of shipping.

usually 7.400" + - .005" Double springs with that big of a cam will give the best high RPM control.

Do yourself a favor. Have Patrick G on LS1tech spec you a cam. All of those cams are stupid big and without being a track car or freeway racer I would avoid them. Something like a 224/230 or 228R from TSP is fine. You can get that 228R ground on a 110LSA. What gears do you have? Heads?

you tubing some 228r cams i still like the sound. and they look to get 45-50hp out of them and i could still run single springs or should i just spend the extra $100 on the doubles?

If it doesnt need to spend alot of time north of 6,000, go with the singles. It just ensures valve events stays sequential with the doubles and keeps making power up high with these motors. the SLP headers (i think is what you have?) will hinder the power output slightly, can probably count on right around 400 to the wheels with the bigger cams.

Also looks like everyone is going with the 112 lsa or 110 what does that do with the power band bring it down at all or is it all pretty much up top?

the 112-110 will have the lopiest idle and be the 110 will be the hardest to make idle 100% stable in all conditions. it will shift the rpm of the power band lower by 200 rpm or so between the 2.

I'm running 111lsa on a TSP Tsunami (pretty much the biggest they offer before you have to flycut on unmilled heads). On my 6.0 it idles at about 790rpm, bouncer very little for how radical the cam is. The only thing i will say is
    a. coming down from freeway speeds to idle sometimes requires a "blip" of the throttle, although it doesn't usually stall
    b. I'm not running vacuum brakes or anything, so I'm not sure how the cam affects vacuum. Its got enough vacuum to keep the fpr working and pcv system works fine.

a good tuner can make your cam sound as lumpy or smooth as you want really. the V2 is probably on the 'big' side of what you can run on stock heads without it being a waste. being an LS1 I would probably push you to a 228R if I could pick an off-the-shelf grind for you. Thats what my buddy had in his TA, and I believe stalled and cammed, headers, maybe a couple other mods and DR's and he was pulling low 12s if I recall.

i had a TSP TV2 on a 114lsa and that was a great cam. i bought the package with push rods and springs.... i also had the prc stage 2.5 5.3l heads all went on at the same time. a4 with a 3500 stall, that thing rip a$$! i was shocked at how hard it pulled from 3000-redline. the power band never dipped off. I could see this working well with a m6 aswell. It has a pretty good idle note even on a 114lsa. If i can, ill upload a video later of it. also if you call TSP and tell them what you have and what you want to do, they will point you in the right direction. Theyre very helpful!
