    308 build

Just placed an order for parts for a friend who's building a 308 (AR10) rifle. Here's the list of parts. I'll update with pics as the assembly begins. Should turn out as a pretty nice rifle for under $2000.

Mega MA-TEN upper and lower set
DPMS lower parts kit ( minus trigger )
    308 Bolt Catch
    DPMS ambi safety
    DPMS stainless barrel 1/10 twist
    DPMS bolt and carrier
DPMS carbon fiber hand guard (comes with barrel nut)
    DPMS Panther tactical pistol grip
    Magpul PRS sniper stock
    Jewel 2 stage adjustable trigger
DPMS standard length gas tube and roll pin
DPMS standard buffer tube, 308 spring, 308 buffer
    Magpul PMAG 308 magazines
Troy .936 low profile gas block
Bravo Company 7.62 Gunfighter Mod 4 Charging handle
    Harris 2R bipod adapter

I want most of everything you just listed...I suppose it'd be cheaper just to upgrade the DPMS LR-308 I have but damn I want that carbon fiber hand guard, any weight savings on that rifle would be a god send

Building vs upgrading your LR-308 is close in price. You're looking at about $575 in parts to upgrade you DPMS. This rifle is between $1700 and $1800 to build. I'm expecting boxes to start arriving today. So I'll start posting pics. The MA-TEN receiver set is about 2 to 3 weeks out.

That's for the trigger, stock, hand guard, grip, and charging handle.

I'd probably just buy parts and build it myself, whatever I can't do my friend that was up at the range day with me could do, he's restored several rifles/modified his own fleet. I keep trying to get him to buy a small mill or lathe being that he's a machinist gunsmithing is a logical step forward =P

I love the MA-TEN set. Everything fit together perfectly, no modification or fitting. Parts are all tight but not too tight. I think this set is going to be my AR-10 set of choice!!!

Saw these bad boys in person yesterday... GOOD LORD they are beautiful. You should get a couple pics with the scope on it up here for all to see!

It was a lot heavier than I expected, especially in my off hand though lol...

I was finally able to deliver these!! DPMS has had all 308 bolts and parts kits on hold for months due to them changing suppliers for extractors. I went to the range today with the customers who bought them and was able to fine tune and sight in. The trigger are being changed. The Jewell trigger does not work in a 308 rifle (If I was smart enough to read directions I would have found out before looking like a fool). They will be replaced with Giessele High Speed Match triggers.

Once they were sighted in and tuned we were hitting the bell at 560 yards with ease even using cheap surplus ammo. My customers and I are very happy with how well these rifles performed. Here's a pic of the final configuration.
