    New Engine Build

    Trying to decide on what CI engine to build. it will be a stock roller block 351w block
    stroked. I am thinking a 408w, some AFR 205's, Victor Jr intake, Custom solid roller
    cam.

    Would like to go out to a 427w but have heard about issues with clearance.
    Guess I could go Dart block but would reallyrather spend the extra monies
    elsewhere.

    If starting from scratch, I'd use the difference in cost b/w the 427 and the 408 kits (for me, the cost difference is usually around 600-800 dollars and pour it into some nicer heads...not saying the AFR's you're looking at aren't nice though.

    I have had great results with Brian Adams at www.ADPerformance.com for my stroker kits and associated parts. There should be very little or no difference in price between 408/418/427/434.

    I would go with the AFR 225s if you want AFR heads and a 950HP carb and a nice solid roller, I would go with Flowtech Induction for the cam, I have excellent history with Ed's stuff. For a stock block you may way to stick with 408 and not have any clearance issues, but if you are doing a big bore Dart I wouldnt stop at 427, might as well do 434. You could get the 4" stroke and 6.2" rod, go with a .060" overbore and have 414 on the stock 9.5 block. You dont want to push that roller block too far, they're not known for their strength. With the 2 bolt mains crank walk is an issue with any high RPMs. If you do your homework you can run a 427ci in that roller block, a buddy of mine had that same setup.
