Laminate Floors everywhere! I need a vac

We have tried a few different vacs and thus far no luck on finding anything that picks up dog hair on the hard floor surface. Anyone have any suggestions?

Dyson has nothing but terrible reviews online, and if I wanted to spend 400+ on a vac I would buy an Oreck. Looking to spend less then 300

We just use a swiffer on the kitchen floor for dog hair. Seems to work much better than any vacuum.

Dyson vacs are funny to me. Proof that if you make a ridiculous product with lots of marketing behind it you can get people to pay your high retail. I don't doubt that it works ok but $400? That is laughable!

I have the same problem 1500 sq ft of hardwood floors and two cats ...

I'm going to get a 20 ft hose for my shop vac because I've tried all the big name vacs and have not been impressed.

    I'll probably get an 1 1/2 " hose (and a reducer from the 2 1/2 " ) so it is not so bulky .

Has anyone tried one of the mufflers for the shop vacs ?(I have a home depot , Rigid vac) I would prefer more of the flowmaster sound but want it to flow like a Dynomax .

We use a Bissel that was geared towards "pet hair". I've really liked it, but for the floors I use a broom a few times a week. Broom is so much nicer than pulling out the vacuum cleaner.

I've got a bissel flip vac for our hard floors. Hold it one way and it vacuums flip it and you can spray cleaner and suck it back up. Things cheap and is awesome!!!

We had tried a few different vacs for our laminate floors (since we have them throughout our rental), and they didn't work.. Or I should say they did, then after a few uses got plugged to the point of not being useful anymore...

We're back to the broom, and using a vac (we have a simple Eureka vac that I bought from Wal*Mart like 6+ years ago) for detailing...

Edit: I forgot to add that we also have air filters that help collect the "roaming" fur... They really do help. Just make sure to get a decent one that has a pre-filter so you can just replace those instead of having to buy a whole HEPA filter.
    Thanks,

we have a kirby for our hardwood floors but for day to day dog hair, we use a cheap handheld vac that has a long handle for floor use. Got it for $25 from walmart and it works awesome!

Seems to have only gotten 3 stars but I love mine. When we lived onbase in az the whole house was hard floors. It worked great there.

Our Kirby kicks ass with the 3 furbearing vermin running around our house. I don't know if it kicks $1000 worth of ass but the wife wanted it so...

We have hardwood through out and the Kenmore canister with the floor attachment does a great job.

The epic shows the carpet beater attachment.
