    3800 Locking Torque Converter Shake

    Hello BCMers,

I have a new issue with my 89 Olds Delta 88 Royale.

My engine has been running smooth, albeit noisy when cold (goes "knack" (first 'k' not silent)), since I repaired my cam magnet.

When driving, the engine is smooth in all gears as long as the torque converter is not locked. The transmission shifts into overdrive around 45-46 mph. If I am steady on the throttle, the torque converter will lock about 2 seconds later. Once this happens car shakes roughly. The shaking gradually goes away as speed increses. Typically, the shaking is not noticable by 60 mph.

Could this be a slipping locking torque converter?

Should I put some of that transmission grip stuff in it?
