    Fuel system suggestion before tune.

Before I come to get my setup tuned, I need a suggestion on finalizing my fuel system. Motor is an 03' Lq4, big cam (w/dual springs and new rods), headers, and plan to run some spray until I can pony up and go f/i.

Do you guys suggest I upgrade my injectors before the tune, and if so how big should I go. My motor has the Delphi MultecII short injectors right now (27lbs i think), but I'm afraid they may max out and don't want to "waste" a tune if I can have the right setup.

    Current is;

Fuel cell -> -8 fuel filter -> 255lph pump -> stock injectors and reg.
    Thanks

Well do you plan to whack it with a dry shot or a wet shot in the future? Also if you plan to go FI, i would reccomend you upgrade the injectors to match the power level you expect to hit later down the road and then they can be dailed in the first time and you only have to buy injectors once.

I can tell you from experience, finding multec II injectors in larger sizes was a pita! I was able to source some 72# ers for a 01 silverado i worked on recently. Almost easier to find common injectors and get the pig tail adapters and space the rail out higher.

That LQ4 with a cam will probably make around 420ish through a 80E at the wheels with headers, so 475 ish at the motor. The BSFC figures point to a minimum of 30# injector to keep 85% DC at 58 psi.

Please consult with me about injectors to choose if you are gonna go big right away, id like to steer you twoard some injectors that good information can be readily had for dialing them in other than just flow rate.

I've heard that I can just splice the EV1 or UScar plugs onto my new wiring harness to accomodate the "taller" injectors. Spacing the rail is no big deal.

Somewhat undecided on the nitrous, I know the wet kit is supposed to be a bit safer on the motor, so if I can find one for the right price I would likely go that way.

F/I is a big goal of mine, but is probably a year away (more if i decide to buy a house soon)

I've looked into the 8.1 Marine injectors @ 42lbs, but they are hard to find and extremely pricey. I also looked into the Ford Greentop injectors. What direction did you want to steer me?

What are your power goals and boost levels you want to be at in the end? Right now even a moderate FI system im gonna tell you to go with 60# siemens/deka's at minimum.

If you stay all motor for a long while and hit it with a wet shot, then LS3 42# take outs or Ford Racing blue 39# will take you everywhere you need to go and all the offset info is avail readily for either of those. The fat body injectors are kinda a thing of the past and driveabilty and idle quality is so much better with a skinny body inj. Just know either the LS3 or FMS 39's will need EV6 adapaters.

I'm probably best off with the ls3 of fms injectors. While I do intend to go FI, i think even at the power I'm at the brakes etc will need to come first.

As for now, I'd be looking to get midway into the 400's at the wheels, and throw ~100 of spray onto it.

If/when I can go F/I I would like to think about the high 500's, but like I said there is ALOT of other stuff in the way.

Do you know where I could obtain the EV6 ends for a good price? (or the injectors for that matter)

If the idle sucks with the bigger injecters switch to E85 until you go to FI.

Those blue FR ones are fine and so is the LS3/LS7 jobbers for all motor and even a mild dry shot.

cool man, picked up some blue tops and wiring connectors for a good price.

1 more question for ya, can I do the 1st start on my lq4 without flashing out the vats? I'd like to get a first start and check for leaks etc before I flatbed it up to you guys for the full tuning.

No it will only start for 5 sec and die if the vats is still there.
