    97 Dodge Ram headlight problem

I did a google search and have found a few write ups but not sure if my problem is the light switch itself or if it could be a dimmer switch problem. It sounds like these trucks have had problems with the switches going bad.

The issue I have had is the headlights will just go off then come back on. It did it the other night several times but it only seems to do it when I have the brights on. It happened several times while driving and I think it did do it once with the brights off but it was right after and dimmed the lights down after the lights went out with the brights on. That was Friday night it happened. I drove it a bit Saturday night with the bright's off and it didn't do it at all.

Anyone else ever had this problem or have any advice on where to check first?

Had a very similar issue, but with a 96 Dakota.. Turned out to be the interior switch itself, replaced it and no issues from there out.

Not sure what the 97 Rams have but the truck I had was the pull out style on/off switch that failed.
