Car stumbles and backfires a bit under acceleration. HELP

The car starts and rides ok under light acceleration, but when I put the pedal down a bit it stutters and seems to backfire.

Changed plugs and made sure there was good spark on all. I also used some carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks, couldn't find any. Tomorrow I will probably pick up a new cap and rotor and see if that helps.

If anyone has a suggestion as to what else I can check, that would be great. May even be fuel filter/ pressure regulator issue???

    Thanks

I do not have a code reader at the moment. I could pop out to autozone tomorrow and have them do it.

Fuel filter??? Or maybe the fuel pump is on its way out. Do you have an active fuel pressure gauge?

Sorry, I forgot to get back to this thread. I put a new fuel filter in it and it didn't correct the problem. I ended up replacing the plugs I bought with non copper autolites and the car ran good. Then I replaced the cap and rotor ( because I bought them ) and the car runs great now with no issues.
