    Factory wheel wells VS. Slicks

Some of the muscle cars seem to have a really small wheel wells. Like my classic mustang. After looking into maybe mini tubbing I have decided to keep the stock wheel wells but roll the lip with some hammer and dolly work. This seemed to take forever. And the replacement plug welds didn't like to budge.

Even with 4 hours of hammering the widest tire that will fit is 255. But with a 255/60 that's a 27.8 diameter it still wont wheel well opening.

So what does everyone here do to squeeze slicks or drag radials in to there Muscle cars?

I have a 275 60 on my 64. Most of the old guys said that wouldn't fit eitherbut with the right backspace it fits just fine with no rubbing. Toucan play around with different backspacing and tire sizes but your next option is to mini tub unfortunately

I was looking at the idea of have to run a 235/60R15 street radial. Was hoping for a bit wider of a tire.

I rolled the lips and beat in the inner wheel house and a I have plenty of room for a 275/40/17 under my 66 fastback
Pity the mate of Queen Mantis, so content, but so headless

And that is because you running a 17 inch rim. Thus making your tire a 26 inch outside diameter.
