    my first sbc build

so after the first time wheeling I decided to build a new motor for the "mud truck" all the parts I had laying around its a 350 .30 over 355 nothing to special down low. toped it off with dart iron eagles 200cc 2.02/1.60. put a comp cams xe284h cam, 1.6.1 roller rockers, victor jr intake and 750cfm dp. 1 3/4 primarys 3in collector headers. on desk top dyno it makes 435hp/489ftlbs I do plan on hitting it with a 150 shot on plate. ill admit this shit with spark plugs throws me in a loop.. im wondering what plugs and gap should i run?

That's a lot of head and cam for a 350...wow! As far as gaping the plugs, it really depends on your coil. Typical high power coil, I usually run .040, but if you're going to be using nitrous, that'll change it.

Really, if on a budget, that's the way to do it...great heads, so-so rest of it....

youll want a high stall... that motor will like RPM, in fact it wont go anywhere until like 3500 RPM or higher.... lots of stall, lots of gear... you'll need to go one heat range colder in plugs for the nitrous, and gap it a bit closer together since the cyl pressure will be increased a bit.

definitely needs a loose converter with that combo..thats alot of cylinder head if you dont have alot of compression.
as far as plug gap,id run it about .030 with nitrous

Do you know what the compression is?

yes heads r big, due to them being for my 406 sbc I was building a few years back. (which I'm going to finish now) like I said the only part I bought for this was the carb. All the parts are for the 406 n I had this 355 block/roatating assy sitting. With the 406 needing a bit more work I slapped this togeather. I did have to leave them un ported. when we started increasing flow #s on the computer dyno it lost hp. I could have made 6 more hp with a 190cc but I already had these. Im running a turbo 400 with a custom 10" 3200-3500 stall. I hate rock crawling so a huge lowend tq motor isn't what I wanted. I wanted stay with a equal hp/tq # due to obviously being a BIG truck. Iirc peak hp was 4200 n peak tq was 3400. The hp only dropped a few numbers from 4000-5900 then dropped pretty hard. I have 2x the power then anyone in my group has so it should be alotta fun n break a lot of shit hahaha

I'd love to see the tq curve on that thing. Or rather "power under the curve".

Thats your static compression.... whats the dynamic compression... thats the only one thats going to matter in the end.... and youll need a looser converter, id be looking at 3500 min. but its all going to matter on the dynamic compression ratio.
