Thread: Jeff's 67 GTO

    Jeff's 67 GTO

This project started out at my friend Wayne's shop. It came in for a basic engine rebuild and turned into a aluminum head, roller cam, stroker motor. At that point Wayne sent Jeff over to me for some drivetrain upgrades to handle the power. That turned into a little bit more because, every time Jeff stopped in he added to the projects list of things to do. So far it's getting a Moser 12 bolt, Keisler TKO 600 5 speed, Edelbrock lower arms and adjustable uppers, all stainless brake and fuel lines, upgraded booster/master cylinder, aluminum pulley set, dual stainless 3 inch x-pipe exhaust, some new side window trim, cleaned up and painted chassis and engine compartment and so on.

Trans was not a bolt in.

It will be out soon. Now that it has overdrive, he plans on putting some miles on it, as well as some track time at GLD.

    Very nice looking Gaot.

Some more update pictures of Jeff's car. The interior is back in and all looks normal except for the extra number on the shifter. I made a couple of custom brackets for the alternator and throttle cable. All the stainless plumbing is done and new side window trim is installed.

Oh man, I can't wait for this to be finished!

Hey Tom - you know I can't leave well enough alone....

How do you like these valve covers instead of the Mickey Thompsons?

    They're 3.7" tall and 5" wide.

Can you drill holes for breathers? These are billet, not sheet aluminum...

They also come plain with no engraving.

Those look sharp, I like the engraving. Yes, I can put holes in for the breathers, looks like there is plenty of room in front of the engraving.

    Good stuff costs money!

Just ordered the billet valve covers, bolts, and gaskets - $434.85! Still need to spend $80 on a pair of breathers and grommets. $500 for a pair of valve covers. No wonder I'm broke. And good thing you're cheap

And to top it off, it will be at least 2 weeks before they arrive. So I'm thinking that means more like a month. At least the M/T's will work for as long as necessary.

    Thanks!

I like the way the M/T's look except they make the engine look a little small. These billet covers are much larger, so it will look like a 463 instead of a 326.

I figure I can switch them back and forth. When I get tired of one look, I can switch to the other.

Just have to figure out what to do with the plug wires. I'm sure Tom can do something expensive with them.
