i was walking on my roof the other day and there were some spots that felt kind of soft under my feet. the roof was replaced in 1999 and is only 1 layer. it only felt soft right at the edge of the roof and gutters, like right above the soffets. any ideas?

Yea moisture's probably building up in there !
Jump in your attic to see if a previous owner blocks up the soffet area for some stupid reason, if you know this or not a attic should temp in the winter should be almost as COLD as it is outside and well summer to......HVAC...

moisture or ice damming issues I'm sure. Ice damming ruins roofs!
