This is what I dislike about HS wrestling...we have yet to have a kid with staph yet, but any unusually large pus filled lesion makes me leary...which really sucks because they're HS kids. THEY ALL HAVE PUSS FILLED LESIONS AKA "ZITS"!!!!
We've only had two suspected cases though...both were negative thankfully.

Bacteria loves warm, wet places aka dirty mats/machines/etc.
Staph infections are also hard to treat, but most commonly are seen as skin infections, although if left untreated can enter the bloodstream and can be potentially fatal. The pictures from the site are pretty classic cases, although I have no idea why someone would allow a pus producing lesion get to the point that it has eaten a hole in your skin... too tough to see the doctor?
