    what tree to plant???

well i want to plant a tree in my front yard 1 or 2 of them i just don't know what kind to plant. i want something that is nice and colorful and keeps its leaves all summer. i was thinking of a dwarf red maple or something about that size. it has to be smaller i don't want a 70 foot silver maple in 15 years. its going to get planted in the front corner of my yard and there are power lines on both sides.

    any ideas??
what trees do you have or like? pics?

Hmmm what do you mean? its nice dirt not clay or sandy.. the lawn was sod when it was put in in 98.
its a dryer part of the yard. top of a little hill.. the slopeing part goes to the ditch and that stays wet forever..

That will make a mess every year.

Important question: do you want an evergreen or deciduous?

One of the best growing trees in the area is the ash.
You might also want to consider an oak tree, preferably red oak.
Other species include walnut, beech, cottonwood (poplar), red maple (does not get to 70 ft), some species of cherry...

I could have a field day with this!

no pine trees and perferably something that wont make a huge mess. i just want a medium size tree that stays in bloom all summer. i have seen some really nice flowering trees but they get there flowers in spring and in a month its bare for the rest of the year.. i do not want that.

No end of choices when it comes to trees. I would avoid Ash because of the Ash borer that is moving into this area. An annual pesticide treatment will be needed to protect Ash trees.

Yeah, stay away from Ash trees.... they will all be gone when the Ash Borer comes thru the area.

I like Maples except for the Silver Maple, but they all can be messy at times.
