    swapping carriers, opinoins needed

My 90 ranger has a 7.5" rear with an open 4.10 carrier.Im picking up a svo rearend today, with 3.42s and a posi.In a perfect world, id like to grab the shims with the svo carrier, and plop it in my housing with the 3.42s.Am i going to need to buy a shim pack and reshim, or could i get away with just keeping the correct shims that match the carrier im using? Obviously the housings wont be the same, but id like some insight as to what i need or should buy before i start tearing it apart.

If your lucky, you might be able to re-use the shims in your ranger housing. Going from one housing to the next, I doubt they would be manufactured that close.

Out of all the rear axles I've built, only one has been close enough to use the factory shims.

    Good luck.
