    99 Eagle Talon questions

Have an opportunity to buy a 99 Eagle Talon for way cheap, but it needs a new oil pump seal (according to Chilton they use RTV sealant, which is hard to believe). Car runs, but it's not a drip, pour in 6 quarts, and within 3 minutes it's all back on the ground. Guys mechanic quoted him $500 to fix it, as you apperantely you have to drop the motor to fix this issue. Wondering if anyone on here could do it cheaper, as if it's cheap enough I would have it towed and fixed to use as a DD. Car has power bulge in hood, but current owner doesn't know if it's a turbo I am assuming it's not, as it's not an AWD car. Any advice is appreciated.

They all have the bulge and Talons were only made until 1998.

It could be FWD turbo, if not then it has the 420A motor.

If it is turbo, I've never heard of the oil pump seal failing. It sounds like something worse. Pictures of the engine would be helpful, otherwise I'd be willing to check it out.

"Car has power bulge in hood"

I do love the '98 Talon..... I searched high and low for one back in '99..... ended up with a Z24, and the illness was born.
