    That isn't exactly true.

The R230 from the Z32 TT will take the power pretty reliably, and likely the Q45 based R200 rear end as well with the larger output shafts.

However the vast majority of the 240sxes out there are running a R200 with the weaker output shafts and axles. Sure you might be able to run fast on it once or twice, but in the end that would be a ticking time bomb.

IMO the Ford 8.8 as others have mentioned is probably the best bet if he plans to stick to drag racing it.

As for the trans Tim is right a standard domestic trans with an adapter kit would likely work best, however if the motor is rotating in a non-standard way then I'm not really sure it would work.

Don't know if that was aimed at me, but seems to me that pictures of the civette doing donuts kinda proves that it works perfectly fine?

Ford 8.8 from a late Explorer (disc braked, no loose axles), can be narrowed by anybody with a torch and welding skillz, under $300 to respline the stock plenty strong axles from Moser.

I was sold after seeing steel body Mustangs go into the 7's with them.

    You guys are fucking clueless.......

seriously, a 9? 1, there are full weight mustangs going 8's on built 8.8s.... mind you, these mustangs make torque.... I know you guys are foreign to that term, but im sure wikipedia can help ya out!
    2. do you realize the extra ammount of power eating rotational mass that is there in a 9"?

Next, I give you guys 100% credit for this project, its brilliant, and if you can mass produce a kit for this thing and it works out, then im sure every pimpled faced 17 year old high school kid will be lining up to buy one.... but seriously, you guys want to be thought of as a reputable shop, and the best you can come up with is come POS craigs list special.... then you go and put them gay ass holes in the bumper.... wtf??

I wouldn't even deliver pizzas in a car that looked like that......

couldnt you have a cam ground to change firing order/engine rotation? you would also have to do something about the oil pump and starter, but that seems like it would be the easiest way to apply power to the back of the car.

I'm confused....How does customizing the trans change the problem with which way the engine spins? Should you get it so the pumps/etc do what they're supposed to do with regard to fluids/solenoids/etc, you'll still need at a minimum a custom ring and pinion so that the reverse rotation sends you in the right direction.

At this point I'd think the easier solution would be to stick a SBC in there, lol....
