    where to get parts

Does anyone know of companies that sell original parts for classic cars ? I know of Memory Lane, but I'm sure there are others.

1968 firebird. The more I read about some of the reproduction stuff, The more I want to find useable GM parts.

I always had good luck with Year One back when I had my Chevelle.

If your looking for GM parts, ebay and google are your friends. Obviously expect to pay much more for original parts.
What kind of parts are you looking for??

try and buy as much GM parts as you can afford. The chinese repops of original items are not very good. What exactly are you looking for? OPG, Year One etc all carry just about everything. Utilize Craigslist as much as you can and be prepared to pay for anything rare or hard to find.

Let us know what you need and we might be able to point ya in the right direction

^ yes...especially when it comes to bumpers. If you can get the chance or know someone with a repop of the bumper you have, compare yours (original GM) to theirs. The bumper on the repop is much thinner metal and lighter weight. Would hate to see what it does in a small fender bender.

With body parts, I would say Goodmark sheet metal has a good rep. Use your best judgement. If you can FIND original parts go with those... Happy hunting!

Bumper: Best bet is to find a good used original one, test fit it and have it re-chromed. It's going to cost you but you know you have the real deal. Stay away from "Bumper Boyz". Everyone says there stuff doesn't hold up very well.

If you can get the GM part numbers for the parts you need you can use http://www.partsvoice.com/Default.aspx and search like the dealers do or even call a GM parts counter and have them run the number.

From Google it looks like the part number for the valance might be? 9792108
Partsvoice came up with two places to check out. One of them MODERN CHEVROLET CLASSIC MUSCLE might be a repop part, the other, NOS PARTS SOURCE could have the real thing but you don't know unless you call.

Like J said most of the sheet metal has gotten better or only requires a small amount of fitting, not much more that normal body work.
