Anyone know if a 5.3l can be swapped in place of a 5.7 vortec?

I have a motor for sale and this guy needed it for his 99 Tahoe that popped the 5.7l motor but this motor is a 5.3l from an 03. can he use this motor?

he is going to need a wiring harness and a ecu for it and not sure if the plugs for the tranny are the same and i think the transmission bell housing is different because on f bodys you cant put a ls t56 behind a t56 i know there manual trans but the bell housing is the same as a auto.

You can put anything into anything. It is just how much work you want to do. We have a big block in a opel for instance. In this case it does not sound practical though
