    Unhappy Well, no more olds

Production ended today with the last alero rolling off the line...

Too bad...great cars were produced over the years, especially in the mid 60's. My favorite olds? this guy here:

WHAT A CAR, EH? engine in the front, engine in the back....4wd burnouts all day long. The story of it is located here : http://www.oldsmobility.com/images/h...r_carcraft.jpg

Sad indeed. But ever since they tried to re-image the brand a few years back, it was really no longer Oldsmobile anyways, IMO. New logo, *not your fathers Oldsmobile* (like what was wrong with your fathers? ) kinda turned me off as a lame GM marketing idea. The Aurora was a nice car though, and even though Alero's are basically just Grand Am's, I like them more than Grand Am's(have driven both quite a bit)...also a nice car. Another part of Olds died(Pontiac too) when they started using pretty much all corporate motors too. Makes sense financially for GM but it globs all divisions together.

Any Hurst Olds or 442(minus the Quad 442 ) is my favorite Olds....well I also suppose the 73-77 A-bodies don't tickle my fancy but they are nice cars. I'd rank a 84' Hurst Olds, 87' 442, 88' Cutlass GT, 70' 442 and 69' Hurst as my top 5. Any g-body Cutlass coupe or 72' and older a-body is sweet in any trim level .

I still want to get a 87-88' Cutlass and put in a 86-87 Turbo Regal drivetrain, maybe the next project

I'm kinda partial to the more plain 68 H/O.

Now if Buick goes away, what will all the old people buy?

I think they are just waiting for all the old people to pass away, then Buick will get axed since there is no one left to buy them.

My favwould have to be the 70 442. You just can't beat the subtle flowing body lines on those. It's too bad what happens to companies over the years, especially ones you "grow up" with like Olds

My favorite Olds is easily the early 90's Oldsmobile Calais W41 Quad 442 front wheel drive sedan.. 190 HP out of a N/A 2.3L 4 cylinder!!!! MID-LOW 14s from the factory!! How long has it been since any GM front wheel drive car could say that! Especially N/A! Totally insane; I still can hardly beleive they even built it.
