Question McMiller Sports Center Lease Change

Not sure what's going on here..

    http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/59642532.html

    http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/59413257.html

I know I like this website http://www.milfordhills.com/cms/ more than this one http://www.wernvalley.com/ , but otherwise, I don't really care who operates it, as long as it's safe, cheap, and open.

Anyone been out there in the last week? Or anyone know why Wern Valley is getting its lease yanked?

Milford does a good job at their place so I'm sure they will clean up McMiller a bit. I look forward to going out and shooting again soon!

Toms a fag, punch him in the trach for me. And I could see them loosing it so some developement company can build condos out that way.

the big deal is the dnr warden down there hates mcmiller and wants it gone.. the guy is a massive doucher along with a lot of the newby home owners who live around the range... apparently when you by a home near a rifle range your magically expect that there isnt going to be any shooting.

from what i was told by a few different people when i was there last was the superintendent of the forest "what eva" wanted to use the lodge during winter for cross country ski'rs even though they where still open.

imo milford hills runs a very classy joint... i went to a wedding there. place is super nice.

The local DNR chick in the area (several years ago now) boxxed my car in as we argued about the fact I came out of the woods adjacent to Eagle Auto that my freind owns with a 308 target/bolt gun and a handfull of squirels in rough shape.

After 40 minutes or better her boss convinced her via radio you can use a centerfire outside of deer season. Her responce (we are on private property facing the Kettle none the less) was that shooting squirrels from a hilltop 200+ yards away was not a safe habbit and the only thing left was the tails and some body parts, I responded all I want is the tail and she left pissed. Ya think the DNR would make sure she knew the law before they sent her off with a loaded 9mm to enforce the law?

Think I shot 5 squirels a day every weekend I went there with 145grain bullets all that year.

We have been fighting a neighbor issue at Hartland shooting range for ten+ years now. New home owners near race tracks and shooting range are fvcking idiots

Going to Dane County. I still don't care who's running the joint.

I'm increasingly interested in understanding how the rights of the range and its patrons could potentially be curtailed by the opinions of surrounding neighbors. I hope they can set it all straight soon..

Those neighbors are crumbum dirtbags. Thats is like moving next to a freeway and expecting to shut it down because people drive on it "fast" and are noisy.

I didnt realize it was State owned, exlains a few questions right there:
    http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/59413257.html

When the WDNR and the State of WI tried to level all the farms in the area for the Kettle they had a march in downtown Madison of the thousands, back when people fought for there rights. Henry Cresca(RIP) of Eagle auto had some great black and white photos of the whole thing.

So has anyone been to McMiller since Milford Hills took over? http://www.mcmillersportscenter.com/ still links to http://www.wernvalley.com/ , which is no help if you're looking for hours of operation. http://www.milfordhills.com doesn't mention anything about McMiller. I'd like to get out there to shoot an SKS I just bought, but I don't want to drive out there when they are closed.

Anyone got any info on their current status?

They better get that site up, the placeholder page has links about columbine and the amish school shootings, not exactly what you want for a gun range...

I have to get out there and see which slugs shoot best out of my tacticool shotgun
    And sight in the CETME

They've slowly been updating the website, which is getting better and better. Got out there for about 6 hours Sunday shooting a pile of pistols and my new SKS. The range office building smells a lot better and the staff was more friendly and cordial. I will be a repeat customer.
