    In those days, it was not that uncommon occurrence during a collision like that to see the driver get speared by the steering column. Safety has come a LONG way even in just the last 25 years (heck, I'd argue that safety from the second 25 years has come further than safety from the first 25....)

    well the 5mph bumpers are only good up to 5mph Duh. Safety has come a long way. I was acually shocked to see how bad the bel air faired. You would think all that heavy steel would have crushed less easily. way to go safety!

    While I do agree cars are now 10,000 times safer I'm thinking there's more than meets the eye with that test......
