WTB: Reasonably priced car or SUV

    Hey guys,

I need some help. I am looking for a nice used car for some very close friends who live in Florida. Its gotta be a nice 4 door car or SUV(2WD ok) with good working A/C. I'd like to spend under 2 grand if possible but let me know what you got up to $4,000. I don't need a car tomorrow but trying to get some feelers out there so I can give my friends the info.

Also I am not trying to be picky but I really would prefer something as rust free as possible. Unfortunately the candy-ass mechanics in Florida panic and run away when they see rusty parts. Actually had one call me once on their other car because he didn't know how to get it apart.

Dealer guys this is for you also, if you have a nice, clean car or truck that fits this price range let me know.

    Please PM me with info.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Not to discourage you Tom but that price range is sure to find you something with rust, they'd be better off finding something down there.....

Yeah, I know. Its wishful thinking in a way. Florida is such a horrible place to buy a used car. Its not like here at alll, Window stickers for used cars do not exist nor do safety inspections. You really have to pour over it with a fine tooth comb or be prepared to possibly spend a chunk of change fixing small stuff.

I have a line on a near spotless 2001 Grand Marquis with 120K on it but its a little more than they want to spend so I continue looking.

I will ask them. We never really discussed a pickup truck so I do not know. I'll let you know hopefully tomorrow sometime.

You can find cars under $4,000 without much rust. I have 2 Grand cherokees with minimal rust that I got for under $2,000

Ok, I spoke to my friends a little more. They said they really need something a little larger. They said something like a Taurus/Sable or Crown Vic/Grand Marquis in size. They currently only have a 95 Cougar so they really want one car they can put more than 2 people in comfortably, it works but its really cramped.

GotTwins, sounds like a very nice car but just a bit too small.

4Inotch, The Truck won't work, if its the one in your sig, the stick shift double kills it for them

Thank you to everyone who has replied so far.

I've got a '96 1/2ton 4x4 Chevy Suburban. Everything works, new brakes, rebuilt trans with upgraded components, new Hummer H3 wheels with new BFG tires, great interior, good exterior with very little rust. Cold A/C and rear air, power everything, 3rd seat, Class 3 hitch, 183K miles. $3750.00.
