yes it will work if you use the block. The acc. and intake wont work at all. How does your motor mount on your car? I have not looked in a TA in a long time. I thought they mounted different than the 5.3. But why do you want to put a 5.3 in when you have a 5.7 in there now?

Well you can bore it out to 3.898 and have an iron block 5.7. but why?

i wanted to bore stoke it if i could mainly i was asking if it was worth it? its dirt cheap if i can't make it any bigger then a 5.7 then i guess it really would be pointless

i know i can make the 5.7 a 408 but i was kinda hoping i could out of the 5.3 as well. but if i can't i might as well scap the idea and look for a better block

yea you can bring a 5.3 to a 408. Basically it is the same block. Same as the 6.0 just different bore

Not sure what the max bore size is that one can safely go on a 5.3 block, you need at min a 4.00" bore and a 4.00" stroke to get into the 400 ci range.

"Dirt Cheap" and engines don't always work together.

Since the blocks are the same you can go as far as a 6.0 could. Or just do a 402 with a shorter stroke.

4.8L and 5.3L have the same bore. 5.3L and 6.0L have the same stroke. They all have the same bearings.

Which 5.3L engine is it and what year? There are a ton of them. I'd aim for a 01-02 LM7.
Buy made in the United States. Otherwise your job might be next. Unless you already wear black shoes and a visor with golden arches on it to work in which case your fellow american has already failed you.

max bore on a 5.3 is 3.905. the stroke is 3.622 stock. i don't know what you mean by dirt cheap. but if you decide to go this route i have a 5.3 block, crank and main caps that is alreadt @ 3.905 that just spun a rod bearing, you could have for 75 bux, You are going to be replacing the crank, rods and pistons, anyhow. let me know.

ok i think i'm gana keep the motor and use it as a boost motor most of the guys on ls1tech say its a good budget build motor for boost so i'll have to get it out of my car soon and start cleaning any ideas on what i should put in it to make it boost ready?

as a shortblock to just toss in and have at it, it'll work great.

if you are trying to buy some forged pistons for it on the cheap, your best bet would have been a 6.0L since those 4" bore pistons are relatively cheap and alot easier to come by.

i got a pair of 6.0L heads if you need 'em. hahah 72cc chambers for the lower compression
