"The cat is exiting the bag!"

Well, after a long day at New Era Racecraft working with Steve Morris and Kyle Kirker along with my right hand guys Cory Peters and my son Jimmy (Ron had to work), it is alive. It is a long story so I'll keep it short and sweet...
5 short Dyno pulls to break it in with the low boost gears-
was getting late so we decided to do one good pull with the wussy gear set to get a base to tune from (pretty fuel fat), then change gears, stay over night and let bitch have it in the morning.
    This is the good part.....
the pull was going great, but at 7300rpm the coupler and stub shaft EXPLODED and went through the roof of the Dyno room!!!!
Holy shit, I thought the back of the block blew off with all the noise and flying debris but THANK GOD as it came apart the first thing to get hit was the coil (mounted on the back of the block for the pulls) and instantly took spark away before it revved to oblivion. The engine is undamaged, but I can't say the same for the headers!!
    Boost- 18 lbs! (Honest!!)
    Timing- 34btdc
Fuel- the finest Schmidts C-16 VP
    egt-1197 (FAT)
    A/F-10 to 1 (Ditto)
    oil temp-133
    water temp-140
    corrected torque-1510@7100 (hehe)
    Corrected HP....

Nice numbers, Jim. I can't wait to see what it puts up when you have it fixed and all dialed in.

7100 rpm peak torque. Ha, and I'm the ricer!
I know what your horsepower number is at 7100

Getting some real gas/timing in there really helps out a bit. It will be more interesting to see what it makes once you have some real gears in there.

BTW you gotta be REALLY careful with couplers like that. There is one story I can think of where someone in a dyne room was running one of our (AB) larger induction motors on a dyne and a key let go on the coupler. Needless to say the coupler let loose and the thing went flying literally through the roof of the building and almost hit someone's car in the parking lot! (The cars park back about 100 feet from the entrance!)

Gotta be really careful with dynes, they can easy kill things/people if they aren't protected.

You know, sometimes you are way too smart for MY own good!

By the way, I just remembered there is a multi-quote feature-I need more than 3 hours sleep to use my remaining two brain cells.

Good numbers and more left in it. First time off the transbrake should be an experience you will not soon forget. Good job to you and the crew.
