    Engine Removal-Ford Expedition?

Is it litterally as impossible as it's made out to be? How about the pick-ups? Has anyone performed this kind of work, or heard of anyone doing it? I wouldn't imagine it'd be as difficult as I'm hearing it is.

I'm not doing it...this is on account of a friend whose just getting started.

The two descriptions I've heard have made it sound like they are sewing machines...just throw them away when the engine goes.

We've got a 2002 in the shop right now at the HS I work at....I guess they are looking to move the body off the frame a few inches to get the clearence to get it out.

Agreed on the body removal. Have seen it done many times at the Ford Garages I used to work at

I heard the "pull the cab off" thing for newer ford trucks , I thought it was BS, till I had to work on mine and saw how far back the engine was. Not one of Fords better ideas, I don't imagine it'll be fun as they get older and more crusty

Day 2: well I turned the cell phone off yet again tonight,
"im gonna get these heads off". Probably spent the better
part of 4+ hrs unbolting the 175k mile exhaust manifolds
from there not so visible hidding places....few more bolts
to go and then maybe I can fish the head bolt out...

Granted I have been wrenching all day but I came home
ambitous ( I have no wheel to drive other than my old
truck) and fully expected to have the heads off. Doing
a 4.6 DOHC in a Lincoln is not a project I would suggest
anybody try at home without a decent set of tools, compr
essor and torchs. May just drop a 2.5 four banger in there
yet if it fights much harder, not sure the rear end could
    handle the torque though.
