Very nice car. Hope it's not just me but the Aussies seem to build interiors that I think are great!

    Looks great. Awesome price too.

Has anyone had/driven one as well as a 05-06 GTO? Curious what the pros/cons of each might be comparitively, current price not withstanding.

Yea, I have. Quite a few times now actually.

The G8 just feels like a newer improved 4-door version. Noticeably slower, even with both being automatics. The 6-speed auto "feels" slow but the gearing pushes it along quite well. The rear suspension was redesigned a bit and it doesn't feel like it binds as much when it squats. Otherwise the interior feels like, the same. It's obviously different, but there are a few interior bits that are the same as the GTO's. For having large wheels/tires, it seems to deal with noise and road fine, but it's alot less brutal power-wise, and the tires feel more "passenger tire" like than what was in the GTO - i.e. softer dampening.

    GTO -
    More Power/Brutal delivery of torque
    6-speed manual available
    Sport Touring Coupe kinda feel
Provisions for DoD but not installed expect 26mpg on a dead stock 6-speed, 22mpg on a auto
    Trunk space is a joke
    Ugly

    G8
    Smoother feel w/ 6-speed auto
    More "docile feeling"
Factory DoD - people are reporting a real world 27mpg/30mpg on the freeway if you baby it
    Massive trunk
    Good looking
Handling is a tad better than the GTO
Slower 1/4 mile stock due to tuning. Undoing the weak tune brings back nearly 40 horses that it doesn't have compared to the 6.0 GTO.

Essentially the difference between the LS2 and the L76 engines is the DOD hardware actually being there on the G8, and a weaker cam than the LS2. Heads and intake on the L76 are better than the GTO.
For example a LS2 GTO 6-speed car w/ those heads and intake and a healthy cam and bolt ons will have no problem doing 440rwhp.

Totally sweet! I love the fact that it is an actual functional car and puts down power and times comparable with a sports coupe. With that TT kit, this car would beat up on Euro exotics like the M5 and AMG! Awesome!

Thanks for the info...I think looks wise they are about equal myself, as the GTO I think is attractive.

damn... dropping .5 from a tune, very nice! just makes the car run better period too, so prob a slight increase in mileage too.

Very nice car. The G8 was on my 'short list' of 4-door daily drivers I was looking at.
