    Those look like Pointing Griffons:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirehai...inting_Griffon

And of course, the Wirehair German Pointer...

and I'm always a big fan of these guys (airedales):

    http://www.huntingairedales.com/boars.htm

Parents used to breed them...owned 6 over a lifetime. You can get some bigger ones...in the 80 and up to 120lbs...but they're best in the 70-75lbs range for males imo. Last one I had was Gus...he was 65lbs at two years, but he ran an average of 6 miles a day or so.

But good luck finding someone who'll train him for you...you're pretty much on your own, or if you're lucky, you'll find someone whose just up for a challenge (airedales are great versitle dogs in that they'll do great on a variety of animals...but the most fun is squirrels and racoons). Plus side, is they're an easy breed to find...find the most belligerent one and not only do you have a great, fearless hunting dog, but a great guard dog as well. They're generally great with children.

BTW, gizmo caught his first squirrel yesterday, lol. Fat and a little lethargic...and didn't stand a chance. It was litterally over in two seconds once he caught him.

    lol...

I've seen 4 griffons in the area...

all 4 have an intensity rarely seen in a dog...they looked possessed almost. One owner cracked up when I called it a griffon without introduction or correction...I was the first person to not think it was a german wirehaired, lol. My wife couldn't stand my smugness afterwards lol.
