    Studding snowmobile track......

Have a stock '05 f6 and want to stud the track. I mostly ride the trails, goof around in ditches or whatever. It's a little scary coming hot into an icy 90* corner with no studs

What kind/ how many/ what pattern of studs would you recommend?

I'm not afraid of doing the job, just know it's time consuming and tedious. I'm kinda short of free time right now. What would it cost to have done? Anybody here interested in doing it for me?

Make sure you have the right template. You cannot stud the direct middle of a firecat track, if you look up in the tunnel you will see what I mean. A buddy of mine made the mistake and it ripped right through the tunnel. Otherwise I have 102 studs in mine and works fine for regular trail riding.

Are the usi power point push through studs any good? My neighbor has them on his cats and likes them.

woodys are garbage, ive ridden with a guy who wrecked a brand new set in one ride. the carbides hold better in studboy and dont wear out nearly as fast. those usi ones on ebay are just studboys relabeled.

Never had any problems on my t-cat which had more hp than your buddies. I did with roetin hornets although they penetrate the best.

they all wear down eventually. I only have mine on my trail sled for stopping on icy conditions and 102 works perfect for that. I can't hook for shit on ice but thats what the zrt is for with 250+ chissels.

Ordered the 136 powerpoint kit from usi. My neighbor's got the drill bits and a nice heated garage, think I may just tackle this one myself.

Might send the pipe to bikeman in the meantime. Also looking into clutch kits, which I really know absolutely nothing about setting up. Someone suggested simply adding some weights to the stocker?

If you go on hardcoresledder.com there is a sponser called The Outdoor Shop. The owner's name is Dan and he makes his clutch kits in house. I put one on my sled two years ago and definitely improved the performance. Either that or Erich at bikeman, they both know their stuff and are easy to deal with.
