Buy a copy of shotgun news. All kinds of places with kits, like model 1 sales etc.
Prices for stripped lowers aren't too bad at the gunshows, $100-$120 which is close to what you'd pay with transfer and shipping anyway.

What are your intentions for your realistic use for this rifle?

I will be beginning my AR build after I finish my FAL. An AR is EASY to assemble.

First, you need to decide what you want. A scoped 24" varmint rig? A "tacticool" M-forgery? Optics, irons, barrels, accesories, the options are endless.

http://www.ar15.com/ That's where you need to start. Look in the "build it yourself" at the tacked threads.

http://www.del-ton.com/ Decent parts at good prices.

I like Bravo Co a lot also.

You also might want to look into Anvil Arms out of Florida. I have nothing but positive things about them. I think I am going to get a lot of parts through them when I start my build this winter or spring.
