I would like to stick to a .22 because of the cheaper ammo, 10 bucks for 500 sounds great to me.

Ruger MKII. All day. I think my total investment in this is $500. Trigger has been reworked, pulls under two pounds. I once shot a dime sized ten shot group with it from a rest. At fifty yards. 10 1/2" bull barrel. More reliable than your floor, and a large aftermarket.
