It's always sad when we lose one of our own, at least he died doing something he loved and no one else was hurt (badly, it did say he hit another car but that driver was treated onsite). God speed fellow racer.

I feel empathy for his family. Did any one notice that the age of both drivers that were killed is over 60?

I know that my reaction time at 60 will not be the same as it was at say 20-40 yoa!

Maybe after you reach a certain age (60 and older) you should be requried to pass some sort of driver skill/reaction test on the track or something of that nature!

Sad news! This the reason that racing is the only sport that there is a prayer before the start. Two fatalities at RA this year, not a good year. Vintage racers are fun to watch but safety is always a big concern. Prayers go out to his family.

just a question - How is the safty taken care of in the Vintage races? does it have to be to any certain specs?

When most of these cars where built driver safety was after thought at best. Most vintage rules are setup to keep the fields competitive. The only real change in driver safety on original cars are to driver gear, harnesses, and fire systems.
