    Radiator Shops....

I'm thinking it might be time for me to have my radiator boiled out/cleaned etc and was wondering if anyone has had any good experience at some local shops. Mine is a BIG 3-core 64 Chevy radiator. I'd like it cleaned and pressure tested at the least....I got a quote for a recore and its pricey

So far I have talked to Falls Radiator. Just looking for other places to call to compare the quote

    thanks

How much is Fall's talking for the re-core?
Brass and copper prices have gone up quite a bit in the last year.

Here's the thread I started when i was doing my radiator. http://brewcitymuscle.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16709

IMHO I didn't get a good feeling from the discussion about Scotty's

Falls Radiator wanted $350 for a recore. I still think the radiator really just needs a good flushing/cleaning more than anything. They said they'll do that for like $75. Also high compared to the other places I called but I too want to make sure its done right.

I believe you mean AllCool or something like that. His name is Harold. It is on 126th and Lancaster in Butler. Right across the street from Rod and Competition Specialties.

new rigid fan is in. Sits a little deeper in the shroud which I'm not real happy about. I might need a new spacer to get part of the fan out of the shroud. Flushed the radiator with Prestone Super Flush...didn't seem to do a whole lot. Flushed the entire system 3 times after that. Hydrometer says about -7 freeze point now (compared to the almost straight coolant I took out of the car). Its running a LITTLE cooler but not much. I think I need to start saving for a new radiator/recore.

just driving around it'll be 180-190 which is fine. Then if you sit for a couple minutes at a stoplight, it'll slowly climb. 200-210. Then if I start driving again, the temps will slowly come back down. BUT if I am trying to get into a car show or something and I have to sit and idle for 10-15 minutes creeping along waiting to park, it'll hit 225
