I have an "old" IBM Thinkpad R32, 1.7ghz, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, XP Pro, 24x CD-Rom, built-in modem and network card (sorry no wireless, but you could throw a PCMCIA wireless card in no problem). Thing has been insanely reliable. $400 and it's yours. I'll even throw Office 2003 on it. I thought I had a case for it too... but I'm having trouble finding it... I also have a backpack style laptop case that might be more conducive for school.

I can buy a NEW unit (obviously not a IBM) that is better then that for that price as that unit is quite outdated.

Plus, there going on ebay for way under $300

Thank you for the offer though.

Dude, his laptop is running '98 and is a Pentium 2. If Breecher says my laptop is outdated... what do you think Josh's laptop is? Breech, if you give me some idea of what you're looking for in terms of price and specs I can look around for you. Also, check out this place... you *might* be able to find something relatively inexpensive.

    www.propertyroom.com

    There's a Dell D600 centrino chipset that's currently at $220

The thing you have to watch for on this site, is sometimes they don't come with hard drives, OS'es, or power adapters (so read the descriptions carefully). But, some of that stuff you can pick up very cheap on eBay. I bought my 19 month old daughter an old Panasonic Toughbook (touch display and everything) for $50, then bought a replacement ac adapter for $15 on eBay and it works great. She mashes the hell out of it and it keeps chugging away. If you do buy one from here and need help getting an OS on it, let me know.

buy the windows 98 relic and put it on display at a museum.
Well, at the very least, I have an interesting back story.
