That is to much cam for a stockish 302 in a 4000lbs car, and to much cam for GT-40p heads. The P's stop flowing @.500 lift without a LOT of work. A stock H.O cam @ 0* and 1.7rr will give you around .480 lift and more usable power band (2000-5300). What kinda car is it that it's in the 4,000lbs range, a crown vic? A sec. gen Lightning only weighs 4,500lbs

hope you plan on running a 4500 stall convertor

with the short stroke of the 302,and the weight of the car *I* wouldnt go that big for the cam....not even with a 410 nitrous gear.

very well spoken sir always err on the small side if you are unsure of the cam choice, especially on a nitrous or boosted car that makes it own atmosphere, so to speak, don't forget valvesprings, and all the supportingmods that you will need.

I just dont want to do all these mods and have the car still be a dog even though it does weigh alot.Plus i figured trickflow stage 2 cam cuz i plan to build a 408w next year and could reuse that cam.Well whats some pretty healthy 302 bolt ons i was thinking

    underdrive pulleys
    Long tubes /full exhaust
    4:10 gears
    Going 5 speed
cars efi btw.Is there a cam that matches the heads or am i pretty much at the 1.7 rockers as my best choice.
    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku that cam?

You gotta think, 302 that flows only so much air, V.S. a 408 that probably has better heads, bigger valves? better headers, ect... is gonna want a LOT more cam than a 302. Period. Find a stock H.O. cam for cheap and beat on that one, then get a custom grind or even an off the shelf gring that is close for your application if you are building a motor. I have a customer that is selling his cam with 2000 miles on it because this time around, I built the motor and his "old" cam is WAY to small, but he stayed the same CI.......... just taking it to a new level so to speak..... Too bad for you its a chevy
