Untill Recently Taurus has NEVER made a good firearm. The one you purchased is decent but I would not recommend it to anyone. As far as S&W and Glocks, im onboard with your line of thinking. I dont care for them either.
I have owned and do own a LARGE amount of firearms. I have a class 3 firearms permit and now a FFL. I used to do alot of competition shooting and ive carried different firearms in a combat situation and know what has performed for me and others ive worked with.
Hitman, Untill you have somthing intelligent to say regarding the topic at hand, keep it shut. And as I said in the other thread, if you have a issue with me, take it to PM and ill work it out with you like an adult.
Thanks!

I'm no firearm expert, far from it. I dabble, at best. I basically reload .40SW, .44mag, .45ACP, .308, and .303 British. That's about all I do. I have a Remington 870 that I use for aerating the lawn. I've never been to a competition in my life and I don't hunt anything but pests. I basically have weapons and a stash of ammunition for the day when the government is run by a bunch of granola eaters and make it impossible for the average person to get firearms and ammo.
Everything I buy in life is "dollar vs value". So, I'd like to know what can be had in the sub-$600 "Gander Mountain" range for a pistol that you actually get your money's worth. You're not going to get a SigSauer, Kimber, or a Para Ordnance for that. I kind of like the M&P and the XD series but they both feel cheap like a Glock. The XD is only a butterfly's fart away from a Sigma.
Taurus' firearms are hit and miss. There is no way in hell I'd buy a Millennium but the Millennium Pro is a decent firearm, especially for $300. It's got like a 15lb trigger pull (my gauge only goes to 15lbs) but it's as reliable as can be. I can run 5 clips through it as fast as I want and it doesn't perform any different from first to last.

Buy made in the United States. Otherwise your job might be next. Unless you already wear black shoes and a visor with golden arches on it to work in which case your fellow american has already failed you.
The XD series firearms have performed outstanding for myself and everyone else I know who has owned them. For a tad over $500 it is the best bang for the buck handgun you can purchase IMO. They are not cheaply made by any means, they are more solid then a glock or ANY other polymer gun I have ever owned/fired. They are the perfect combination of price and quality.
And I know for a fact there are MANY bcm members that will stand behind this statement.

Intelligent? How much intellect is required to tell somebody that something they purchased with their hard earned money is a "piece of junk"? You like the XD. Fantastic. You've explained why you like it. Great. These are your opinions. Apparently you feel as though said opinions carry more water than those of anybody else's, so not only is their input un-required but also worthy of ridicule, as are their alternative gun choices. If only we could all be a cool as someone that doesn't have enough sense not to swallow diesel fuel...
If anybody should should shut down their diarrhea-of-the-keyboard, it should be you, Johnny Gun-Critic.
I'll make you a deal. You start acting like an adult, and maybe I'll treat you like one.
Thanks!
