10lb or 5lb Bottle for nitrous??

I pretty much have my setup nailed down and dynotunemp in stillman, IL is doing all my work but I am curious what people think on the bottle size. I may use this at the track at most 5 times in a summer and one the street once or twice a week.

I am looking at the dimensions on bottles and a 10lb bottle is about 21" long

5lb bottle is 16" in length. With my trunk setup I can fit a 5lb a heck of a lot easier but how many runs would I get out of it?

that shot will take about 4 full passes on a ten lb bottle,as long as you have a bottle heater.

hmmm. wonder if its even worth having 2 5lb bottles back there. That will obviously cost more but its a space issue. I gotta get my hands on a bottle and set it in there to see hwo much room I have.

anyone got a bottle I can come up and set in the car to try? just want to measure size and fitment

you can swing by and try a 10 lber if you would like
i wouldnt go with a 5 lber,it loses volume rapidly.

X2, I use a 10 lb bottle and manage to empty it in about 7 passes with a heater. a 5 lber is useless IMO

I'm assuming this will be more of a show setup Kelley? You can get chrome bottles and stuff to really dress up the setup.

to be functional you are going to want a bottle heater, which will cover up most any chrome or cool paint you wanna do. For a show car id say use 2 5 lb bottles, but in reality you will be much happier with a 10 lber and a good heater

its going to be a blue nos bottle so the look of the bottle not an issue. its more of whether it will fit in the trunk without taking over everything else thats there

Need it to fit in one of those corner and the bottles I see onlne are 21" long and thats cutting it close. A few of you offered to let me try your bottles. I'll shoot you a pm in a few to see what works for your schedules

well, you could mount it over the amp so its sitting "hot dog" style instead of the normal parelle with the car mount, this isnt the absolute best way to do it plus u will have to angle the siphon tube correctly. just an option.

can it be mounted parallel to the trunk? I have some space on the backside of the box inbetween the seats that I could put it but thought they had to be mounted with valve facing toward driver at a certain angle?

it is best to have the bottome of the bottle face the rear of the car, thats where the siphon tube picks up the liquid nitrous.mounted sideways, there is a chance (in a fast, hard hooking car) for the liquid nitrous to slosh away from the pickup tube.

why not just mount it under the passenger seat and get a laptop to flash MANIFOLD DANGER when you spray?

maybe gut the center console and put it in there, with easy access to the valve?
