    $$$ Wrecked 2003 Cobra?

So KKB says that an excellent condition 03 Cobra Mustang would retail at a dealer for approximately 19,000. Anyone have any idea what a wrecked 03 severely t-boned with front end damage might fetch from an insurance auction? I'm basically looking for the motor, trans, and wiring. I don't think they can ask much more than a few thousand since the car is listed as unrepairable.

I dunno if you are goin to be able to even get that out of that poor car....

I'd say auction price is well less than 3000

It tough too because if I buy the car and there is something major wrong with the motor or trans, there's no going back. Obviously though this is the only way a 19 year old kid can afford these parts. I was going to try to offer $800 and see what they say.

Currently this is my other choice... the first car is in TX and this car is in CA

Not to sound mean but I doubt they would take 800 for either of those.
All posts from the above author are expected to be 100% BS. Thank you and have a nice day.

Prolly not gonna let it go for $800. The blower and/or tranny alone are worth that....

Plus it's going to cost you damn near $800 to get either of them here...

Thats fine, I thought maybe they would take $800 for the first one cause its so bad but I know the second one wont be anywhere near that. I do however have a friend who loves driving and would trailer either car back for me. Rather than telling me what they wont take how about telling me what a reasonable offer might be?

I'm also not looking to save either car. I have something else in mind.

Well, you have to consider that on either of those cars, the blower looks to be mostlhy intact.

so what would one expect to pay for a blower off of a cobra? I'd guess atleast $1200 for the blower alone. They're going to think about the car in terms of the larger parts (angine and trans).

Sure, you've got to go through the trouble of taking it all apart. But the parts still have their value.

someone else said 3000, I'm sure that's not too far off the mark.

oh wow, that site has both of these cars listed too but actually show a price. Wow ok too pricey for me.

at least the one from cali, you can sell off the body parts that werent damaged ulike the other one.

I would have not problem parting one out... I'd gladly deal with that. My Dad has been expressing interest in building a mule V8 RWD car for a setup to put under my Street Rod Probe. That's the main reason why I was looking. Thanks for the link to that site Flick... the place I was looking did not have any bids/offers listed just pictures. I'll have to keep my eye open. I don't necessarily need the supercharged one, those were just the only two Cobra's that I saw at the time.

The thing to remember is that there are lots of places like MPS Salvage (Mustang Parts someting or another Salvage.) mpssalvage.com

Where they'd buy a wrecked car like that (or a Mach 1 for instance), yank the running gear and sell it for... $6500 (it's on their home page)

Or they'd buy a wrecked Cobra (such as this one http://mpssalvage.com/showcar.cfm?ID=660&CategoryID=1) and sell it for 13,500 OBO
    Thanks,

    If you're looking for a 4V motor, here's a crashed 96 Cobra that's local...

I'll take anything 99-04 Cobra. The only reason I was looking at the 03 was because that was all I had found at the time. It would be nice to have the independent rear suspension. The Probe's wheels base is 102.9inches and according to wikipedia (unless someone has better sources for these numbers) the 99-04 Mustangs wheel base is 101.3in. The width of the Probe (and I am not sure where this is being measured from) is 69.8in and the Mustang 73.1in. If that is the width from outside tire to tire then I might run into some problems but 3 inches can be dealt with, at least its not 6 or more. I am currently looking for someone to allow me to have a few hours with their Cobra to take measurements off the rear. The plan is to take a mule test Probe and build a tube chassis to skin the body over and set the rear end up and check all the clearances (and make all the mistakes). Then once that car is mostly together tear apart my flamed Probe and (using measurements off the mule car, so as not to screw up my good car) swap the parts over. I know this seems a little backward but one thing kinda led to the next and before I knew it the car was being done 10,000 times better than originally thought.
