Compound Boost 2003 Cobra 1,188 rwhp Stock engine

Not sure if anyone saw this but this is VERY impressive!

    http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...bra/index.html

The kit featured here is universal and can be used with a supercharger or without it-the difference will be in the turbocharger sizing to fit different applications. The piping and turbo mounting is universal in all systems and mod-motor applications. For those brave enough and in need of the excess, check out the turbo/ supercharger system. It will not disappoint your appetite for ridiculous power levels. We watched this setup throw out a certifiably insane 1,188 rwhp and an even more impressive 1,015 rwtq-through a stock engine including the factory cast-iron exhaust manifolds.

That's cool but wouldn't the you be better off taking the "restriction" of the blower off?

That is impressive for an otherwise stock motor though.....

What makes it NOT impressive that it takes nearly 44 PSI to make this power! Yes 44 PSI!! i shit you not it says that in the article. They have seen as high as 65 psi with pulley swaps too.

Its a cool idea, but a supra can make as much power with the same boost and 2 less cyl.

damn near 1200 hp is impressive any way you look at it,especially with a "stock" engine.
that even eclipses the almighty LSx engines..

heh understood, that kinda power is impressive yes. There are many ways to skin the cat i know...

This not a LSx debate either.

But if the thing so much as farts , it will be raining bits of 4 cammer motor in australia. 44 psi into a factory stock engine is not just a ticking time bomb, but a certain cataclysim.

thinking about it even more, thats one hell of a job tuning that thing, expecially at those kinds of boost pressures.
a stock lower will not put up with much deto at the level those cylinder pressures are seeing.
i wonder what the intake air temps get to??

its says like 120ish in the article. its not rocket science, throw a shit ton of fuel at it ( 160 lb L.I. injecors, weldon FP, 1/2 feed lines) and keep the timing reasonable and it will work. They are just using that PMS piggy back thing and a modified MAF for tuning. No **** ups with this baby. A little more than a clipped plug will result on that go around lol

Its 1188 hp on a stock bottom engine none the less, I believe the valve covers have not been off.

Obviously it wont hold up since with that amount of boost it needs head studs, mls hg's and new slugs. Its not like we all haven't seen engine with the best of everything puke at a very young age from some stupid problem.
Beside people have been bolting whatever they can on some old V8 since the beginning of time and runin'er till she blows anyway.
Cant wait till those cars start hitting the streets and I think the reason the blower is still used is for the 600+ ft lbs off idle.

if it was "EASY" every street car would have 1000+ hp.

What I want to know is if you feed the blower with boost does the blower use less power ?

Well a BBC, with a metric shit ton of spray seems to make it happen quite easily dont it? I will give this credit that its a few notches above that.

Im just taken back by the amount of boost needed to make it happen is my stumbling block.

Its a cool idea indeed. Maybe im missing something on the true theory behind compound boosting too other than the instant low end and the top end legs togther.

Ill be the first to tell you this, there is NO WAY you are going to spray a "stock" bbc to 1000+ hp.it won't happen, period end of story.

think about this, not so much as a ported cylinder head or set of cams? come on now....thats crazy.

what is the power at the flywheel at 1188RWHP???
    wow.

i just thought it was cool to see nearly 1200 RWHP on a "stock" motor sure most motors could with enough time and money but i doubt on a stock motor.

I didnt say anything about it being a factory stock BBC... Just generalize it.

When I saw this article in the magazine, I thought it was definately wierd... I know with the right twins it will still make 1000+ without the blower... Interesting, but wierd...

I have thought about making this the long term plan for my car, hopefully when it is 10 years old it will be sporting this set up and an automatic transmission.
I may leave the stock blower on until then. I think we might have it paid off in a year or 2 then I will have a little more money to throw at it.
Hopefully I dont nick hogan it by then.

By that time I wont be able to afford the petrol to drive it cross country so might as well make it unreliable.
I also wanna see how many miles I we can get on the stock junk as well.

Didn't they say in that article that if you removed the supercharger it would make more power?
I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

    No it would not.
